My Scar, My Story – Photographic Exhibition
February 10, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Every scar tells a story, the children involved in this exhibition have all undergone life saving heart surgery. This is a black and white photographic exhibition displaying the children with their scars in a minimalist, bare and raw style. Accompanying each photograph is an account of their journey so far.
A Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) is the No.1 birth defect in the UK, it affects 4000 UK children a year. 10% of these children will die before they reach school age.
This exhibition is all about raising awareness of CHD’s, the impact that this has on families and the children themselves. It is a display of bravery, courage and the story of their scars.
Not only is this a Photographic Exhibition but also a Silent auction. A couple of examples of the items auctioned are :
A meal for two La Petite Mon
Meal for two at The pantry (Stockbridge/ Colinton)
One to One Pilates Voucher for FASIC Sport injury clinic and many More.
All the proceeds raised from ticket and silent auction sales will be divided equally between British Heart Foundation, Beads of Courage and Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity – Ward 1e.
Bead of courage – When children in the Glasgow Children’s Hospital undergo treatment, they receive a bead, known as a Bead of Courage, to show how brave they’ve been. Their beads build up over time into a unique record of what they have been through. Some days are really tough for these kids. The beads are used for encouragement and say to everyone ‘that was tough, but I did it’.
Glasgow Children’s Hospital charity Ward 1E – This is the ward which all kids go to recover after Major heart surgery.
Each ticket permits one person entry to the exhibition and opportunity to bid on the silent auction prizes. You will receive one glass of Prosecco on arrival and Canapés. Bar available to purchase further drinks. So come along, have a drink and take a walk through these beautiful displays of bravery!
